The next turn is another right; now you’re heading to Tola.

In Tola make a left when you get to the stop sign at the other side of the park, with the police station on your left and
the produce stands on your right. (Buy fruit.) You’ll make a right a couple of streets later. Now you’re on a dirt road.

Follow the dirt road for about a 15 kilometers to the gate of Hacienda Iguana. There are lots of turnoffs, but when in
doubt just follow the signs to Hacienda Iguana or Rancho Santana. You’ll know you’re almost there when the road
turns right and you enter a big valley. It’s easy to drive right by the Hacienda Iguana gates, so keep your eyes open for
the entrance on the left.

If you've rented a condo at Iguana you'll need to tell the guard your name, he will have it on his list. If not, you're out of
luck. No Colorados or Panga Drops for you.

That’s the first guard gate. There's a second guard gate you’ll need get through too.

Plan for about 2.5 to 3 hours driving time. If you stop for groceries, gas, map check, beverages and pee, figure 4
hours. The total distance is 135 km. Fill up on gas in either Nandaime or Rivas. The big gas stations are all on the big
highway. Don’t be afraid to ask for directions. Absolutely don’t drive at night! Lots of drunk drivers.

Driving to Playa Iguana - Colorados and Panga Drops

Leaving the airport go right following the signs to Tipitapa then
Masaya. On your way to Masaya you'll come to a T intersection. Turn
left, but watch out for the cops that wait there to pull over gringos. If
the cops are there, turn right, then make a U-turn back toward
Masaya. You may be able to charge through without them noticing
you.  Don’t drive into Masaya itself. You’ll get lost.

Towards the end of Masaya take a right at the big circle, heading
towards Catarina but still on the outskirts of Masaya.Pass through
Catarina and take a right at the big fork in the road (not at the circle;
that’s too soon) toward Nandaime. (The left goes to Granada. Wrong
way.)

The road joins the Carretera Sur at a “T” intersection in Nandaime. Go
left and head to Rivas.

When you arrive at Rivas you’ll see signs for Tola, Hacienda Iguana,
Rancho Santana, Arenas Tola, etc. Follow those signs. (If you want
groceries you’ll need to head into Rivas. Llook for the Pali store. Ask
directions – Donde está el super mercado Pali? – Don’t be shy.)
