The Surfer's Guide to Costa Rica - Playa Santa Teresa
Playa Santa Teresa, Costa Rica

Santa Teresa is known for its hollow (at low tide), well-
shaped beach breaks. This whole area - a six kilometer
stretch from Cabo Blanco to Santa Teresa - picks up lots
of swell, so there's always surf.

Santa Teresa has good rights and lefts, and breaks best
at lower tides. It is usually the cleanest and best shaped
surf in the area. Even as Playa Carmen and Mal Pais got
crowded, Teresa stayed somewhat of a secret, but it is
now crowded, what with the overcrowding of Mal Pais
and the accommodations built practically right on the
break.

If you are coming up from the south you will find Playa
Santa Teresa about 2km north of Playa Carmen.
